How to Play Daily 4
Daily 4 is available to play at Michigan Lottery retailers, and it is really easy to take part. It is also a game with great flexibility over what you can do. See a step-by-step guide below, followed by more details of all the bet types that are available.
Choose your numbers
Select four numbers from 0 to 9, or mark the Easy Pick option if you would prefer a random set.
Select your draws
Choose which draw to play – Midday, Evening or both - and decide how many consecutive days to play. It is possible to enter up to 60 in a row.
Decide on your wager type
Pick your bet type - Straight, Box, Wheel, 2-Way or 1-Off.
Buy your tickets
Pay for your tickets at a cost of $1 per play and wait for the draw to take place.
Ticket sales close at 12:49 PM ET for the Midday draw, and 7:08 PM ET for the Evening draw. They reopen a couple of minutes later ahead of the next draw. The draw times are 12:59 PM ET and 7:29 PM ET.
Another option is a Replay ticket. This is available if you’ve got an old ticket from the past 31 days and want to use the same selections again, starting with the next draw.
Bet Types
Here is more information about the bet types you can play. The one you choose determines how much you can win.
- Straight - You are trying to match the four numbers in exact order.
- Box - You win if your four numbers are drawn in any order.
- Wheel - With this type of bet, all the different combinations of your numbers are entered as separate Straights. You have to pay for each combination, so the cost will be $4, $6, $12 or $24.
- 2-Way - You play a Straight bet and a Box at the same time, with $0.50 going on each. You win both parts of the wager if you match the numbers exactly, or just the Box part if you match them in another order.
- 1-Off - You win if your numbers match exactly, or if one of the four digits is one up or one down. For example, if you choose 5555, you would win if the numbers drawn were 5555, or if they were 4555, 6555, 5455, 5655, 5545, 5565, 5554 or 5556.
Number Combinations
For Box, Wheel and 2-Way bets, you also need to consider the combination of numbers you play. This is a factor in your odds of winning and how much you can win.
- 4-Way – Three of your numbers are the same and the fourth is different. This gives you ‘four ways’ of winning. For example, if you play 1113, the winning combinations would be 1113, 1131, 1311 and 3111.
- 6-Way – If you play two sets of pairs, this would be a 6-Way wager. For example, the number 4488 can be arranged six ways – 4488, 4848, 4884, 8448, 8484 and 8844.
- 12-Way – Two of your numbers are identical, and the others are unique, such as 5567. This creates 12 possible combinations – 5567, 5576, 5657, 5675, 5756, 5765, 6557, 6575, 6755, 7556, 7565 and 7655.
- 24-Way – If all four of your numbers are different, there are 24 ways they could be drawn. For example, the numbers 1234 can be ordered as follows: 1234, 1243, 1324, 1342, 1423, 1432, 2134, 2143, 2314, 2341, 2413, 2431, 3124, 3142, 3214, 3241, 3412, 3421, 4123, 4132, 4213, 4231, 4312 or 4321.
