Mega Millions drawings take place on Tuesday and Friday nights at 11:00 PM ET.
Ticket sales close at 10:45 PM ET on draw nights.
To play Mega Millions, you need to pick a total of six numbers – five from a range of 1 to 70, plus a Mega Ball from a separate pool of 25. Go to the How to Play page for full instructions.
You have to be at least 18 years old to play Mega Millions in Michigan.
Mega Millions costs $2 per play, plus an additional $1 if you play the Megaplier on top.
The Megaplier is an optional feature which will increase the value of any non-jackpot prizes you win. Prizes can be increased by 2x, 3x, 4x or 5x, depending on which multiplier is selected in a random draw. Adding the Megaplier costs an extra $1.
You win prizes by matching the numbers you pick to the numbers that are drawn. Payouts start for matching the Mega Ball on its own and increase in value as you match more numbers. To win the jackpot, you must get all six numbers. See the Odds and Prizes page.
Yes. There is no limit to how high the Mega Millions jackpot can go, so it keeps rolling over until it is won.
The largest Mega Millions jackpot in history has been $1.602 billion. The biggest prize won in Michigan was worth $1.05 billion on January 22, 2021, and was claimed by the Wolverine FLL Club.
The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 302,575,350, while the overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 24.

You have one year to claim any Mega Millions prizes won in Michigan. If you bought your ticket outside the Great Lake State, you will need to claim your prize in the same jurisdiction and the deadline is not the same everywhere in the U.S.
If you win more than $5,000, your prize will be taxed at both federal and state level. The rate of state tax in Michigan is 4.25 percent.
