Powerball Odds and Prizes
Powerball is known throughout the world for its great prizes, with a jackpot that starts at $20 million and has been known to go above $2 billion.
You need to match all the numbers to win or share the jackpot, but there are also eight other ways to win in every draw. In fact, you are guaranteed a payout as long as you match the Powerball.
The following table shows all the different ways to win, along with the prize amount for each category and the odds of winning.

Power Play Prizes
If you add the Power Play option to your Powerball ticket, any non-jackpot prize you win will be increased by up to 10 times its base amount. The table below displays all the payouts you can receive.
Prize Level | 2X Power Play | 3X Power Play | 4X Power Play | 5X Power Play | 10X Power Play |

Match Powerball | $8 | $12 | $16 | $20 | $40 |
The multiplier applied to non-jackpot prizes depends on which Power Play number is randomly selected in a separate draw that also takes place on the same night as the main draw.
The 10x multiplier is only available when the advertised jackpot is $150 million or less. The table below shows the odds of each multiplier being used, when the 10x Power Play is available and when it is not.
Power Play | Odds of Being Drawn | |
---|---|---|
Jackpot under $150m | Jackpot over $150m | |
10x | 1 in 43 | - |
5x | 1 in 21.5 | 1 in 21 |
4x | 1 in 14.33 | 1 in 14 |
3x | 1 in 3.31 | 1 in 3.23 |
2x | 1 in 1.79 | 1 in 1.75 |
Double Play Prizes
Double Play has exactly the same prize levels as the main draw, so the odds of winning are also the same in each category. The only difference is the prize amounts. The jackpot is a fixed $10 million in every draw, so this does not roll if nobody wins. Many of the payouts in the other categories are actually worth more than in the main draw.

How to Claim Prizes
You can claim prizes in a number of ways, depending on how you played and how much you have won. For the majority of payouts, you can simply visit a Michigan Lottery retailer if you played in-store.
If you win the jackpot, you will also need to decide whether to take the money as an annuity over 29 years, or the lump-sum payment.
